Office Space

I just came here to vent:

1.) Is there some book of rules or ettiquette somewhere for using the copier/printer?

We have to share ONE with several departments and I have a pet peeve of someone that will make 15-20 copies of ONE thing yet set it and walk away. I hate this for two reasons: 1.) the machine jams meanwhile they have no idea and it ties up the machine until they return. 2.) the machine is done copying and all their papers are in the way for me to use it. Yet they are MIA...

2.) My desk/cubicle is very neat and organized and that is a well-known fact in this office. The downside is that people are compelled and drawn to help themselves to the items on my desk: my pen, post-its, stapler, stapler remover--"just for a quick second."

I have something to add to the pet peeve of people making 15-20 copies too. They never clear the machine so if you go and put something in the copier right after and you don't notice that it is set to make 20 copies, you will then hit start and start making 20 copies of your own thing when you never in a million years wanted 20 copies.

If you find that etiquette book please let me know because I would pass it out to everyone here!!

My biggest pet peeve is when they jam the copier and leave it OR the copier needs something like toner and no one can be bothered to change it. I feel like I am ALWAYS changing the toner.

1. This is why we have a table near our copy machine. If there is junk on there that isn't yours it is moved over to the table :)

2. I have a few things on my desk that someone might borrow but not often. A while back I'd keep everything in a top drawer. Kind of something to get used to at first yes but after a while it's second nature and you get used to having a very clean desk and then you don't have things coming up missing. Better than tethering it to the darn desk like a bank pen!

I lock my stuff up at night but this is stuff while I'm sitting at my desk ("Oh, I just need it for a sec...") or I got up to go to the bathroom/fax/copier and I return and something has "vanished."

True... Still though that's why I'm the maintainer of supplies lol and why everything stays in my drawers.

O my gosh I used to hate it when people would do that with the copier. It's always just 1 or 2 people that make everybody else wait...and they have no idea they are even doing anything.

Start bolting things down so they have to sit there to use them and cant take them away!
